When you are installing a new communications system, one of the important decisions that you will have to make is what type of cabling will be used. There are several different types and it can be pretty overwhelming if you do not know the ins and outs of each type.
Here at Time Business Systems we will be happy to talk through all of the cabling options that we can offer in order to help you make the right choice for you and your business.
Cat 5 vs Cat 5e Cabling
There are actually various different types of Cat5 cabling including Screened Twisted Pair (SCTP) and Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP). Here in the United States UTP is favored. Where a network is using Cat5 cabling Denver business owners can expect around 1000 Mbps over around 300 feet. and offers much greater quality. You may see this type of cable referred to as Cat5e. The ‘e’ stands for enhanced. Technically Cat5 cabling is a different type of cable, but it is generally considered old fashioned these days and here at TBS when we say Cat5 we are referring to the more advanced Cat5e cabling. There is also Cat6 cabling available that is even more advanced.
Choosing The Right Cabling?
It can be tough to decide which type of cable is right for you and your business. You might think you should simply opt for the most advanced (Cat6) or maybe you will opt for the cheapest (Cat5). However, when choosing cabling you should be basing your choice on which type of cabling best meets your needs. There is little point in paying extra for Cat6 if you do not actually need it! In most cases it is Cat5 cabling Denver business owners opt for since it is more than sufficient for their needs.
